1. Open a new word processing document and input the following text
SMOKE ALARMS Smoke detectors are small devices that can be fitted to the ceiling
and are able to detect fires in their earliest stages and sound a loud
warning signal. An alarm such as this can give you those precious few minutes
of warning to get to safety in case of a fire. When fitting a smoke alarm it should be at least 30 centimetres (12
inches) away from any wall or light fitting. Smoke detectors should be fitted in a place where they can be heard throughout

cooking fumes may trigger the alarm.
