The Route

Llanfair is the main station on the railway and provides the passing loop for bi-directional running. The station name has been randomly taken from Llanfair-yn-Neubwll on Anglesey in Wales. The station lacks much character still, although this will be developed over the coming years. The line from Llanfair to Nantmor is the high level line on a raised embankment. It crosses the path on a recently constructed girder bridge before diving back into the trees, emerging at Nantmor. This station is intended to be based on the Welsh Highland Railway station - the station building will be following shortly(ish)... The line then crosses the garden on a large sweeping bridge. It curves through the bushes to Burwarton.
Burwarton is modelled on the standard gauge station on the Cleobury Mortimer and Ditton Priors Railway in Shropshire. The wooden station building has been out in the garden now for 10 years - so is doing well! The section from here onwards was constructed with the help of Mark Found during the filming of the Garden Railway series for the Discovery Channel. The railway crosses back to the west of the garden and climbs the very steep 1 in 45 back to Llanfair Yard. The main running line passes along the back the yard before returning to the main station.
