What Was New - 2000
Home Page
November 2000
- Family History database
updates - including details from a family tree originally produced in Canada
in 1927, kindly copied and sent to me by a Townsley family historian /
descendent in Northumberland. Also the Burnley
Townsley lines have been updated using data kindly provided by a
Townsley family historian / descendent in Kent. And the Townsleys
in South Wales page has been updated.
- Page added for Townsley
Links from England to Canada - now that there are two separate
Townsley family lines linking Yorkshire with Canada
- Updates to My CV

- Updates to Home Page
to add extra links and remove some graphics

October 2000
September 2000
- Family History missing
1891 Census entry for George & Ann Townsley found in Shipley, Yorkshire
!!! - updated on Townsleys
in Bradford. Also updates to the Boatmen
and Mariners Found pages. Database has grown to
over 10,500 entries - despite some combining of duplicated entries.
- New web site - a totally separate web
site is keeping me "employed" while I am looking for a job that
provides some income! (I thought that there was a shortage of IT staff?).
The Northern Heritage site on the freebeeb.net server, is a
new venture aimed at linking together various sub-sites with a common
heritage theme. The first of these is for the Leeds & Liverpool Canal
Society - a reasonable starting point given my family's connections with
this historic waterway. The Internet URL links are - Northern
Heritage Home Page and the Leeds
and Liverpool Canal Society Home Page.
- New pages created for Dawson
Family Connections and Tattersfield
Family Connections as well as various updates and improvements to other
family history pages.
- Pro
Cycling's Internet Hall of Fame loaded onto the freebeeb.net
server - link changes for the new site will take some time to be completed -
redirector pages are being set-up.
- Part 6
added in the General Photos section *
- More scanned
images of family documents and family photos *
August 2000
July 2000
June 2000
- Family History database
has grown to over 9,600 entries. The searches at the Family Records Centre
in London have now covered all the Townsley births from 1837 to 1920
- except for 1880 and 1892-1895.
- Details of the Saltmer families of
Market Weighton have been improved and expanded with the kind help of a
family member in Western Australia.
- The Pro Cycling Hall of Fame site
re-development is almost complete but the old problem with web space means
that it is still only available on the CD-ROM version. [I must find a web
host with more free space!]
- More scanned
images of family documents and family photos *
May 2000
- More work on the links to the Knighton
families of Eastwood, Nottinghamshire and few more years of Birth
registrations added - the Family History database
now has about 8,900 entries
- The Pro Cycling Hall of Fame site
re-development is progressing well but it remains off-line from the Internet
- there are about 450 web pages to update!
- As part of the changes to the cycling pages there is
now a section just for my cycling
photos - but again these take up too much space to load on to
the web so they are just on the CD-ROM version.
April 2000
- More research into Townsley and Strangeway
lines in Yorkshire and Lancashire - the Family History database
now has about 8,550 entries
- The Pro Cycling Hall of Fame has been
taken off-line from the Internet for a complete re-development. It is
planned to be available in its new format later in the year.
March 2000
- Updates to the Family History database
with the help of relatives in Australia researching the Strangeway
lines - now about 8,200 names
- More scanned
images of family documents *
February 2000
- More updates to the Family History
database - now over 7,500 names despite efforts to merge duplicates and
link family members. Information about the linked Tattersfield
families added with the help of other internet genealogists. Also the
Townsley war deaths extended to include World War II and more data about the
linked Dawson families of Otley.
- Web Links URL page -
various links collected from the net *
- Part 10
added in the Family Photos section *
January 2000
- Entries in the Family History database
now increased to over 6,500 - can anybody give me some family links to
create more actual family trees? There are now lots of unconnected entries.
Also a few more maps added for places with family connections.
- More data and new reports loaded to my
pages at the Family Tree Maker site (USA). This provides
more information without adding to the volume on the UK site.
- Part 5
added in the General Photos section *
- Part 9
added in the Family Photos section *
* Only available to family members via CD
