This Fort on the North West Frontier is some eighty miles inside Afghanistan.

From Bannu the road was opened once a fortnight to enable our supplies to reach the enclosed fortress of Razmak.

Similarity to a type of Roman constructed enclosed defence position.

Ironically at the turn of a new century again it has become troubled area.

We the British fought many a skirmish or battle over this land of tribalistic beliefs and warlording.

Two hundred years of our involvement in this area.

Past recollections Rarely not a day went by without some sniping or action taking place either by Gurker patrol or Indian army or ourselves shelling some target.

Will this area ever succumb some day to the peace and tranquillity we witness now in our own land of Britain.

Like the once Scottish tribal border at Hadrians Wall.

Or the Trenches of the Somme and many more now quiet battle sites. Those fields now that only bury in its growing greengrass the past witnessed scene of slaughter.
